After more than 40 years of concert performances with ensembles of various styles, after many engagements as a sound tinkerer in the theater or in contemporary dance, after 25 years as musical director of the Sambabateriea Sarara, after all the time on stage, under the stage, behind the stage, after many studio sessions, now the time has come:
I present my first solo CD, "Bleech." I come from the cultural region of Northern Upper Palatinate, and where I come from, many things made of metal are simply called "bleeech," with a long "eee." The main instruments in the entire audio production are either made entirely of metal or consist largely of it, or they are made of wood, but their sound essentially results from metal components. The accompanying program is called "Rhythmus Live," and that's exactly what it sounds like.
Instrumentally, there's a hodgepodge of exotic and less exotic instruments. In the foreground are my two handpans and the kalimba, along with my Drumport cajon. My other instrument choices reflect my preference for Brazilian music, which is why my rebolo and berimbao are always there. And I can whistle, too. Animation and entertainment complete the colorful mix of songs, instrumental compositions, floating sound structures, and pulsating beats. I completely forgo electronic equipment. I sing, play, and whistle my way through my program, presenting music that is close to my heart.
