The legendary percussionist demonstrates how to play this versatile instrument to the best of his ability, playing funk, jazz and Latin rhythms as well as his signature flamenco style.
In addition to explanations, technical exercises and samples, there are three group performances consisting of two standard melodies (Chameleon and Afro Blue) and an improvisation accompanied by electric guitar and bass.
Two percussion solos complete the material, which lasts over an hour.
The method focuses on understanding how to approach compound meters, with animated diagrams and musical examples.
The video is complemented by an 80-page book with full transcriptions of the two percussion solos as well as sections on the history of the instrument, its maintenance and recording know-how.
