The handpan is a completely beginner-friendly instrument where percussion and melody meet. Playing the handpan creates soothing, ethereal, and long-lasting soundscapes that completely captivate both the player and the listener. No previous experience or knowledge of music theory is required, as all tones on the handpan are on a fixed scale. With most models, it's impossible to play dissonant, or "wrong," notes.

This allows you to follow your own intuition while playing and quickly lose yourself in mysterious, dreamy melodies. With a little practice, more complex rhythms, captivating chords, and two-part melodies are also possible. A handpan is equally suitable as a solo instrument or for playing with other handpans or other instruments such as tongue drums, guitar, or percussion.

Sela Harmony Stainless Steel Handpans are entirely handcrafted, perfectly tuned, and made from a stainless steel alloy. Stainless steel handpans have a significantly longer sustain than nitrided steel models, making them particularly suitable for slow, relaxing, and meditative playing. They are also very easy to care for and well-suited for beginners, as their fast, sensitive response requires less effort to play. The D Kurd tuning (fundamental frequency 440 Hz) is one of our best-selling scales. The central note in the middle of the handpan is D3, with the notes A3, Bb3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, and A4 arranged in a circle around it. With its bright D minor scale, the D Kurd can be used to play a wide variety of melodies, from calm and meditative to melancholic to powerful and joyful. A particularly practical feature: a scale overview with the individual pitches is lasered into the underside of the handpan.

Each Sela handpan comes with a bag made of tear-resistant nylon fabric, which, thanks to its well-padded interior, provides optimal protection during transport. It can be comfortably carried either by hand using the two handles or as a backpack using the adjustable shoulder straps. A practical outer compartment offers enough space for small accessories like a metronome.
